Its Done Barcelona To Face Real In Cup Final

Barcelona put both feet in the final of the Copa del Rey with not one but two emphatic victories  against Almeria during the semis.

Drubbing at Camp Nou seals fate

It was the first encounter that ultimately provided for this meeting of destiny, as the Catalan club were out of sight within thirty minutes after a Pedro goal made it 4-0 and rendered the remainder of the game a procession for the home side.

World Player of the Year Lionel Messi was at the heart of most of the current league leader’s attacks, bagging two goals for himself in the process. A repeat of the 8-0 thrashing handed out by Barcelona to Almeria earlier looked on the cards, but the visitors managed to keep a rampant Barcelona side at bay until the 88th minute when substitute Keita finally added a fifth.

Messi opened the scoring after 10 minutes when an error by Almeria goalkeeper Esteban gifted the 2009 winners an early lead. David Villa and Messi’s second took the score to 3-0 after 16 minutes before Pedro and finally Keita ended the rout.

Josep Guardiola’s side have been in imperious form this season, leading some observers to christen them as one of the finest sided in the history of the game. Having scored 5 goals 8 times this season, and able to call upon players the quality of Messi, Andreas Iniesta, Xavi and David Villa, few will likely be able to argue against the Catalan club.

Four points clear of Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, Barcelona look well set to add even more trophies to the already bulging trophy cabinet. If they are able to repeat the feats of his first season in charge where they won an incredible 6 trophy’s during the 2009/10 season then the club will surely go down in the history of the game as the greatest side ever to have played. A place in the final of the Copa del Rey has been decided against league rivals Real Madrid but the enemy has injury concerns and must integrate new transfer Adebayor into the squad. Hopefully by April 20th Mourinhos men will be ship shape.

A difficult Champions League tie against Arsenal in February stands in the way of Guardiola’s men making history, but if they can move past that obstacle then the sky is the limit for this season. Football bets have already been placed on the club achieving a domestic double this season. Last night’s game seemingly ensures those involved in football betting will likely be proved right.

Oh yeah, probably should have mentioned yesterdays score Almeria 0 Barcelona 3 but would it really have mattered? Ole Pep and crew!
